Real Estate outside the US, ie Mexico

Anyone interested in non US property? I've been looking at real estate in Mexico for several years now. I'm anticipating a buyers market becoming more pronounced as liquidity dries up from US buyers. I understand the Canadians are still buying aggressively thanks to their strong dollar. Harry's not a big fan of Mexico, or at least he wasn't when I asked him about it 3 or 4 years ago. He prefers Hawaii due to better health care and the strong Asian demographics.

I don't own realestate in Mexico but I do have friends who reside there or have a second residence. It appears not to be for the faint of heart. There is a great deal that is positive about living in Mexico but those who do tell me they will not call the police even when a very serious incident has occurred for fear of further assault. They will also leave Mexico, however difficult it is, for medical care.
I am wondering if there are any thoughts on other places in the world - outside the USA?

My wife and I moved to New Zealand from San Francisco. The move has been very good for us. NZ is a beautiful country with friendly people. Conducting business in NZ is strait forward and the NZ government has open policies for foreign-investing in NZ. It is a small island economy, so you have to manage your currency risk in NZ which is challenging since the Kiwi currency is one of the most popular speculative global currencies and sees huge price volatility. However, you can use this to your advantage by having an active currency hedging strategy.
