Is anyone looking at shorting Gold?

Is anyone looking at shorting Gold?

Postby bmx88 on Wed Sep 02, 2009 11:09 pm

Hi Guys,

I'd like to know if anyone's looking at shorting Gold at the moment or buying a gold short index?

What are your thoughts on SRS, the commercial real estate 2X short.

Thanks!

What makes you think that gold will be going down? Looks bullish to me. With all of the $ being printed and stimulating the economy, gold represents a hedge against inflation and/or the weakening USD.

Also, China is buying lots of gold instead of US treasuries.

Hello from Denmark, I think it is pretty much dangerous to short Gold or Silver! The reason why I think is that if you look at the chart since 2003, every 2 years, Gold and Silver skyrocket from around Oct thru Jan or Feb. As per HS.Dent recent e-mail, one might have to think to buy instead of short. I know it sounds crazy when it is going up suddenly, but The charting shows that! And, I do not think fundamental figures count much at the moment! I have read a book written by a former currency trader telling currency traders do not at all look at fundamentals, but the charts! I believe charts can be more of help in today's market than fundamentals. Traders and analysts think and talk differently! Money may stop flooding into stocks. Where do they go next? Bonds or commodities?
